What is Public Involvement? Public involvement is the process of involving the public in the early stages of the transportation planning process through completion. Public involvement is a critical component in the transportation planning process. Through meaningful consideration and input from interested citizens, needs from all modes of the public transportation system become a shared mission with technical planning staff and policy makers. For the transportation community, involving the public in planning and project development poses a major challenge.
