Transit Planning
This aspect of public transportation planning involves support to recipients of Federal Transit Administration funds for urbanized areas and nonurbanized areas. The recipient of urbanized area transit funds is The City of Montgomery and the name of the transit system is the Montgomery Area Transit System (MATS). The recipient of nonurbanized area transit funds is Autauga County and the name of transit system is the Autauga County Rural Trportation System. 
The MPO planning staff provides transit planning assistance as needed. Support in developing and updating the Urbanized Area Transit Development Plan (TDP) and integrating projects identified as feasible into the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is one major work task.
